Why Is The Night Black?

video, 2018

A russian radio astronomical receptor moves slowly through the meridional's taïga night, catching the waves and echoes from space, producing data on various astronomical phenomena: solar and lunar eclipses, rising and setting times of the sun, planetary configurations, amongst others... The frames are taken from a live CCTV camera watching the sourroundings, in the center the receptor exists as a strange and sculptural object which inevitably goes back to this question: Why is the Night Black?
